AEM BMS Master

The AEM battery management system (BMS-18) consists of three components:VCUBMS-18 MasterSatellite(s) BMS-18

BMS is implemented in the form of two different types of modules: BMS Master and BMS Satellite. Each module is capable of measuring up to 18 cells and 3 temperatures (thermistors), but the master module also contains the CAN communication interface and the specific J1772 connections for charging required for each battery pack.
The VCU communicates with the BMS through the master module, and all battery packs require at least one master module. The satellites extend the capabilities of the main module by 18 additional cells and 3 thermistors for each additional satellite connected. The satellite modules connect to the main module via an High-Speed Serial Interface (isoSPI), which allows additional modules to be daisy-chained, adding as many satellites as needed for the battery pack configuration.
The VCU is responsible for all BMS control logic. All configuration and calibration items can be changed via the AEMCal user interface.
