Description and characteristics

The SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100-Tr charge controllers are Victron's solution for systems with large series-connected PV modules that charge 48 VDC batteries. This product is ideal for large off-grid and grid-connected battery systems.

Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100-Tr

Available in 5.76 kW and 11.52 kW models, they feature a wide range of 80-450 VDC solar operating voltage, independent tracking inputs, full connectivity, insulated PV connections, a screen, fully programmable battery charging parameters and active cooling. The new metal housing and fully enclosed electrical connections increase safety and modernize the appearance in line with Victron's latest product suite.

Features:

MPPT: Ultra-fast tracking of the maximum power point

The SmartSolar RS solar charge controller connects to a PV array with a voltage of 80 to 450 volts and efficiently charges your 48V battery pack with a current of 100A or 200A. The charge settings are fully programmable and can be customized for different battery chemistries such as lead-acid, lithium, and others.

Configuring and monitoring with VictronConnect

The SmartSolar RS charge controller can be remotely controlled and configured via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app. This allows you to configure and control the device and get instant information such as battery voltage and current, PV module voltage and current, historical data and trends.

Optional serial connection modules

The SmartSolar RS charge controller is equipped with VE.Can bus ports. This allows communication with additional SmartSolar RS and VE.Can MPPT devices. The additional devices are simply connected to each other using an RJ45 cable. When connected to each other, all individual charge controllers synchronize their charge stages. They can also send their data via the same monitoring cable to a GX device (e.g. Cerbo GX).

Remote monitoring and control

If your GX device is connected to the Internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) gives you access to the full power of your SmartSolar RS charge controllers. If your installation is connected to a GX device and the Internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) gives you access to all the power of your MPPT anytime, anywhere; at no cost. For remote installations - even if there is no internet connection nearby - you can monitor your MPPT by connecting a GlobalLink 520.

SmartSolar display

The SmartSolar RS charge controller is equipped with a front panel display. The display shows the battery voltage, charging current and voltage from both arrays separately, including instantaneous and total readings, as well as the device status, including any possible error codes.

I/O connections

SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100-Tr is equipped with a programmable relay and options for remote temperature and voltage measurement. The remote input can accept Victron smallBMS and other types of BMS with charge enable signals.
